Preparing for Your Eyelid Surgery ProcedureTo prepare for eyelid surgery, the doctor will go over your typical medicine regime and your lifestyle choices. You may be asked to stop smoking so that you can heal after the procedure better, as well as to cut your risk factors for any post-surgical complications.
Eyelid Surgery RecoveryFollowing your eyelid surgery, you’ll be advised to apply cold compresses to the eyes to reduce swelling and bruising. You should also keep your head elevated and sleep upright. It’s also normal to experience some tearing, blurred vision, or sensitivity to light. This should dissipate within a few weeks.
- Do not wear makeup or contact lenses for at least two weeks following the procedure, and stay out of the sun if possible.
- Your doctor will provide you with eye drops to treat any itching, burning, or dryness, and he will go over instructions on how to properly care for your eyes.
- You should not drive until your vision has completely returned to normal, and you should refrain from strenuous physical activity for about a month.
